Backing rural grit with real capital — and hands-on support.

Blair Mountain Holdings is a West Virginia–based holding and advisory company focused on strengthening and sustaining essential businesses across the state and surrounding region.
The firm’s long-term vision is to acquire and steward established small businesses while keeping jobs, ownership, and decision-making rooted in the communities that built them.
In the near term, BMH works directly with West Virginia business owners and local organizations through fractional CFO support, feasibility studies, and strategic advisory services — practical, hands-on work that helps ensure these companies remain viable, locally owned, and ready for the next generation of leadership.
Our focus is sector-flexible, and the goal is to work with companies that are deeply connected to their communities and built to last.
Common traits include:
- Consistent, recurring cash flow
- Strong teams with loyal customers
- Owners who care about what happens next
- Opportunities to grow through better systems, not just cost cutting
Many of the businesses that fit this vision generate $2 million or more in EBITDA, though that is not a hard requirement. The emphasis is on stability and essential services.
Particular interest is in essential services, industrial trades, logistics, and other companies that serve local customers and cannot easily be relocated or replaced.
In parallel, Blair Mountain Holdings partners with local businesses on shorter-term advisory projects — from financial modeling to succession and feasibility planning — building trust and continuity while laying groundwork for long-term ownership solutions.

Blair Mountain Holdings operates differently from traditional investors. The intention is not to chase short-term returns, relocate operations, or cut jobs to boost margins. Instead, the goal is to build and support a lasting home for businesses that matter — with local leadership, patient capital, and strong community roots.
West Virginians have seen decades of extraction, whether in coal, timber, labor, or talent. The aim here is not just to have businesses operate in the state but to ensure they truly belong here. That means creating succession options, financial stability, and advisory partnerships that preserve legacy and empower the next generation of local ownership.
The model is about resilience, not quick exits. It is grounded in long-term stewardship, regional growth, and a belief that value should stay where it is created.
Blair Mountain Holdings is being established to invest in and support West Virginia’s businesses and communities. Inspired by the resilience, grit, and history of the region, our approach is rooted in long-term stewardship and local ownership.
The Battle of Blair Mountain was the site of the largest labor uprising in American history. Thousands of coal miners stood up for dignity, fair pay, and a voice in their future. That spirit of self-determination continues to define West Virginia today.
Blair Mountain Holdings carries that spirit forward — working today with local businesses and leaders to strengthen operations, plan for the future, and build the foundation for long-term, locally owned enterprises.
